Illinois State Rep. Dan Caulkins recently voiced his official support for David J. Shestokas's campaign for Attorney General.

According to his campaign page, Shestokas has pledged to keep election oversight a priority when he is elected to the Attorney General's office. Other priorities include resolving lawsuits by citizens filed against the state alleging failure of the state to comply with existing laws and reassigning staff attorneys to monitor local prosecutions and criminal investigations at no additional taxpayer expense.

"I am proud to be supporting David Shestokas for Attorney General. As a constitutional scholar, I know he is the right man for the job," Caulkins wrote in a June 15 Facebook post.

Shestokas was admitted to practice law before the Illinois Supreme Court in 1987, the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in 1988, the Supreme Court of Florida in 2004, and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida in 2006, according to his bio page. He opened the Law Offices of David Shestokas in 1987. He served as Assistant State’s Attorney for the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office in Chicago, IL, from 1994 to 1998.

Shestokas is competing against Steve Kim and Thomas DeVore for the Republican nomination, according to Rockford Register Star.
