More than 80 Big Blue students will graduate from undergraduate and graduate programs.
DECATUR, Ill. — On Sunday, Dec. 10, Millikin University will honor more than 80 graduates from the Class of 2023 with an in-person ceremony beginning at 2 p.m. at Kirkland Fine Arts Center. The Winter Commencement ceremony will recognize traditional undergraduates and those receiving their Doctor of Nursing Practice, Master of Nursing and Master of Business Administration degrees. Millikin community members can also watch the ceremony through a public livestream on Millikin’s graduation website at millikin.edu/commencement.
The ceremony will feature remarks from Millikin President Dr. Jim Reynolds and student speaker Kayla Green. The Winter Commencement address will be given by Millikin Board of Trustees member Amy Kemp.
Student speaker Kayla Green, of Chicago, Ill., is graduating with Bachelor of Arts degrees in Criminal Justice, Sociology and Philosophy, with a concentration on Pre-Law. The title of Green’s speech is “More to Come.” During her three and a half years at Millikin, Voss has been honored to serve as the President of the Kappa Zeta Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and President of the Social Action Club. As an EDGE Mentor, Green has helped provide a unique opportunity for select first-year Millikin students to adjust to the academic demands of college. Green also served as captain and earned all-CCIW honors as a high jumper on the Big Blue Women’s Track and Field Team.
Winter Commencement keynote speaker Amy Kemp is the owner and CEO of Amy Kemp, Inc. (https://amykemp.com/), which helps leaders and business professionals understand how deeply thought habits impact every part of their work and lives. Along with serving as a Millikin’s Board of Trustees member, Kemp will launch her first book, “I See You: A Guide for Women to Make More, Have More, and Be More—Without More Work” on Feb. 29, 2024.
The title of Kemp’s address is “The Blue Thread.”
